Jeffrey
H. Hider, a Certified Business Intermediary
with over thirty years of diverse business and merger
and acquisition experience, takes a very personal
approach to working with owners of middle market size
businesses. His
business development, management consulting, and
sales/marketing expertise serves clients well in
developing strategic marketing plans to identify and
connect with the best buyers for their businesses.
Because Jeff has worked in senior management in small
and large companies in several industries he is able to
assist business owners across various industries and
markets. As
Principal of The THOR Group LLC, he provides
Exit Strategy consulting, Business Valuations, and
M&A services, to clients locally, nationally and
internationally.
From
“start-ups” to middle market and in Fortune 100
corporations, Jeff has operated successfully in
management consulting, technology services consulting,
custom software, and the Internet, as well as
manufacturing, publishing and printing, niche retail,
pharmacies, restaurants, specialty
contracting/construction and wholesale distribution
industries. Consistently seeing new business approaches,
effectively managing the M&A process, structuring
and closing business transactions, all while providing
high quality service, Jeff is primarily concerned with
client satisfaction at the close of the “deal” –
and afterwards.

John Burley is a highly regarded
expert in business consulting, management, mergers
and acquisitions, training, and growing both
entrepreneurial companies and divisions of large
enterprises.
John is the principal consultant at Burley
Consulting a national management consulting firm
based in Washington DC. His primary areas of
expertise include business planning, business
valuation, mergers and acquisitions, deal
structuring, due diligence, strategic growth
planning, market positioning, marketing
communications, and training. As a strategic partner
with The THOR Group, he provides exit strategy
consulting and M&A services, to clients nationwide.
Over the course of his career, John has served as
President, Vice President, Director, and Board
Member of companies ranging in size from $1 million
to $200 million in annual revenues. With over 19
years’ experience in operations, marketing,
management, technology, and M&A, John has led
numerous growth plans, turn-arounds, corporate
acquisitions, small business purchases, and
start-ups, as well as led sales and marketing teams,
marketing initiatives, project teams, and finance
departments.
Mr. Burley is faculty for the American Management
Association and is also a published author of
articles on various business and professional
subjects including business management and finance,
mergers and acquisitions, education and training,
business planning and valuation. He has been an
expert guest on talk shows, and has delivered
numerous seminars and trainings on topics including
corporate development, mergers and acquisitions,
marketing, communications, and training and
education. Inc. Magazine and Entrepreneur Magazine
are two of the publications Mr. Burley has been
featured in.
As a leader in the church and community, John has
also served in roles ranging from volunteer to
chairman. He has taught classes and after school
programs for 12 years, published the newsletter for
multiple schools, served on education enrichment
committees, and served as a volunteer at the county
and state level. Mr. Burley has also served the
community as a coach for more than 20 seasons,
volunteers for numerous community outreach projects,
and serves on staff at his church. He is the
recipient of numerous awards from the State of
Maryland, the Montgomery County Council of PTAs,
Board of Education, and has contributed to numerous
award-winning projects including the Award for State
Neighborhood Project of the Year and the Award for
Outstanding Local Government Innovation. |

About
the namesake of The THOR Group:
THOR is the Norse god of
thunder. He is a son of Odin
and Jord,
and one of the most powerful gods. THOR was
usually portrayed as a large, powerful man with a red
beard and eyes of lighting. Despite his ferocious
appearance, he was very popular as the protector of both
gods and humans against the forces of evil. He even
surpassed his father Odin in popularity because,
contrary to Odin, he did not require human sacrifices.
The Norse believed that
during a thunderstorm, THOR rode through the heavens on
his chariot pulled by the goats Tanngrisni
("gap-tooth") and Tanngnost ("tooth
grinder"). Lightning flashed whenever he threw his
hammer Mjollnir. Thor wears the belt Megingjard which
doubles his already considerable strength.
Donar
is his Teutonic equivalent, while the Romans see in him their god Jupiter.
Thursday is named after him.
