The THOR Group recently celebrated its 13th year in business and is a full service merger and acquisition advisory firm providing confidential and professional services to sellers and buyers of small to mid-size companies in the Washington, DC – Baltimore, MD Metroplex, throughout the United States and internationally.

President
Jeffrey H. Hider, a Certified Business Intermediary with over thirty years of diverse business and merger and acquisition experience, takes a very personal approach to working with owners of middle market size businesses.   His business development, management consulting, and sales/marketing expertise serves clients well in developing strategic marketing plans to identify and connect with the best buyers for their businesses. Because Jeff has worked in senior management in small and large companies in several industries he is able to assist business owners across various industries and markets. As Principal of The THOR Group LLC, he provides Exit Strategy consulting, Business Valuations, and M&A services, to clients locally, nationally and internationally.

From “start-ups” to middle market and in Fortune 100 corporations, Jeff has operated successfully in management consulting, technology services consulting, custom software, and the Internet, as well as manufacturing, publishing and printing, niche retail, pharmacies, restaurants, specialty contracting/construction and wholesale distribution industries. Consistently seeing new business approaches, effectively managing the M&A process, structuring and closing business transactions, all while providing high quality service, Jeff is primarily concerned with client satisfaction at the close of the “deal” – and afterwards.

Managing Director

Francis J. Keenan, a Certified Business Intermediary, brings a wealth of business and negotiating experience to clients in a low key yet highly focused manner.  In his role as Acquisition Advisor, he guides clients through the maze of questions leading to a decision to sell or buy a business.  He gets to the heart of the matter through questioning, research and analysis with the goal of unlocking the hidden value of any business.  Clients find Fran to be engaging, curious, organized and persistent in all stages of the advisory and transaction process.  Fran is particularly effective at understanding the unstated needs of all parties and identifying new approaches to solving difficult problems, thereby keeping deals on track.

Fran’s twenty plus year corporate career has spanned the factory floor to the boardroom and he is comfortable in either setting.  At the Vice President level of a multinational company, Fran has led or had key roles in acquisition teams to acquire companies in the U.S. , Brazil , Mexico , Australia and China .  Fran’s hands-on, practical approach has been successful in bringing together internationally diverse groups of individuals to organize and negotiate the offer, resolve difficult due diligence issues, and consummate deals.

About the namesake of The THOR Group:

THOR is the Norse god of thunder. He is a son of Odin and Jord, and one of the most powerful gods. THOR was usually portrayed as a large, powerful man with a red beard and eyes of lighting. Despite his ferocious appearance, he was very popular as the protector of both gods and humans against the forces of evil. He even surpassed his father Odin in popularity because, contrary to Odin, he did not require human sacrifices.

The Norse believed that during a thunderstorm, THOR rode through the heavens on his chariot pulled by the goats Tanngrisni ("gap-tooth") and Tanngnost ("tooth grinder"). Lightning flashed whenever he threw his hammer Mjollnir. Thor wears the belt Megingjard which doubles his already considerable strength.

Donar is his Teutonic equivalent, while the Romans see in him their god Jupiter. Thursday is named after him.
